Full Commission
Kane County Board members also act as commissioners of the Forest Preserve Commission, meeting at 9:00 a.m., on the second Tuesday of the month, prior to the regular monthly County Board meetings.

The Forest Preserve Commission governs the Forest Preserve District. The Commission meets monthly to consider all business recommended through the Executive Committee.

The President is elected every two years by the Commission and he/she in turn appoints Commission members, with the Commission's approval, to serve on the Executive Committee. The President of the Forest Preserve District of Kane County is a member of all committees.

Enterprise Committee
Executive Committee
The Executive Committee meets monthly to consider all business recommended through the Community Affairs, Land Acquisition/Enterprise, Finance, and Planning & Utilization Committees as well as independent issues such as District policies/procedures, purchases/bids, master planning, studies/surveys, personnel, resolutions, and all other items not within the jurisdiction of the above committees. Once issues are approved by the Executive Committee, they proceed to the Commission for final consideration/approval.

Planning & Utilization Committee
The Planning & Utilization Committee meets monthly to consider all business regarding the use, management, modifications or improvements to District properties. Types of issues may include (but are not limited to): land planning, cooperative or intergovernmental agreements, easements, special events, property use, preserve amenities, natural resources, wildlife studies and management, citizen comments/suggestions and purchases/bids in relation to equipment, management, improvements or modification of properties. The Planning & Utilization Committee may establish subcommittees to coordinate special projects or evaluations.

Utilization Committee
Land Acquisition
The Land Acquisition/Enterprise Committee meets monthly on all business regarding the District’s enterprise operations and contracts including golf course management firms (Hughes Creek, Settler’s Hill and Deer Valley Golf Courses) and Elfstrom Stadium/Kane County Cougars. Types of issues may include (but are not limited to): contract details/renewals, business/financial reports, management, operations, planning, purchases/bids, and special projects as they relate to the aforementioned operations. This Committee also handles all business regarding the purchase or donation of land for the District.

Land Acquisition Committee
Community Affairs Committee
The Community Affairs Committee meets monthly to consider programming, policies and marketing as it relates to the District’s environmental education, Nature Center and community programming. Types of issues may include (but are not limited to): the development of program facilities, fee structures, program expansion, cooperative initiatives, special events and marketing.
